RVA August Festival Guide


With August off to a great start with Hank Williams, Jr. playing at Innsbrook this past Saturday, I thought I’d share yet another RVA festival guide so your summer can go out with a bang!

Filipino Festival
Friday, Aug. 7 & Saturday, Aug. 8
Coming up on its 10th year, there will be food, music, traditional dance and art showcased starting at 5 pm on Friday night.  Admission is free and it will be held off of Woodman Road in Henrico.

PanaFest RVA
Friday, Aug. 7— Sunday, Aug. 9
Featuring different events and celebrations each day, experience undiluted African culture at the Innsbrook Pavillion this weekend.  "Held in August to commemorate the freedom, emancipation and abolishing of slavery in British colonies on August 1, 1834.”  For more information on each day’s events, visit here. http://www.panafestrva.org/events.html

Richmond Jazz Fest
Saturday, Aug. 8 & Sunday, Aug. 9
There are so many artists lined up for the 6th year of this event held at Maymont Park!  Tickets are pricey, from $85 a day to $140 for a weekend pass, but featuring world renowned artists like Natalie Cole, Lauryn Hill and Macy Gray.  There will be musical previews throughout the city before and after the concerts at Maymont so be sure to check out their website. http://jazzatmaymont.com/

Watermelon Festival
Sunday, Aug. 9
Hold on to your watermelon seeds!  This is the event that all local Richmonders rave about.  From a day of family, foodie, and the cocktail connoisseur fun, this festival brings everyone out to play.  Come early to find parking.  Festivities begin at 10 am and last until 6 pm, officially...


RVA Brew-B-Q
Sunday, Aug. 16
The tastiest Barbecue and craft beers the area has to offer. What more could you ask for to celebrate summer?  Held at the 17th Street Farmer’s Market in Downtown RVA from 12-5pm.

Chesterfield County Fair
